The Flash (2022) Production Companies

The Flash (2022) is a superhero film based on the DC Comics superhero. The movie was produced by DC Films, Double Dream, and The Disco Factory. It will be distributed by Warner Bros., Pictures. In this article, we will look at the three different production companies producing The Flash.

Double Dream Films

Double Dream Films, one of the three production companies for The Flash,  is a film production company formed by Andy and Barbara Muschietti in 2021. The duo is responsible for the previous film hit It. The Muschiettis are brother and sister. Irene Yeung is the Head of Development at the company.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti have worked together for more than two decades. They have produced many projects in film, television, and in commercials. They have collaborated on all of their various projects.

Andy Muschietti directed It and It: Chapter Two, while Barbara Muschietti produced the two horror blockbuster films. It had the biggest opening weekend ever for a horror film in over thirty markets at $189.7 million. It totaled $701.7 million worldwide. It: Chapter Two had the second-best global opening ever for a horror film at $185 million and a global total of $473 million.

The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti with Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco producing and Marianne Jenkins and Ezra Miller executive producing. Ezra Miller also plays The Flash / Barry Allen in the film.

Other films Double Dream has coming up beside The Flash include Attack on Titan and Electric State. Attack on Titan (2022)  is a live-action action-fantasy film based on the manga of the same name written by Hajime Isayama. It is about a monster hunter out for revenge. Electric State is an adaptation of a graphic novel starring Millie Bobby Brown and directed by the Russo Brothers.

The Disco Factory

The Disco Factory production company, the second company responsible for The Flash, was formed by former New Line Cinema executive Michael Disco in 2019. It started off its life with a two-year deal to produce films for Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. 

Films produced by The Disco Factory include The Many Saints of Newark, a prequel to the hit HBO show The Sopranos, executive produced by Michael Disco. Disco is also serving as producer on The Flash.

Michael Disco has 35 producing credits according to IMDB. Some of these include:

• Rampage (2018)
• The Disaster Artist (2017)
• Collateral Beauty (2016)
• San Andreas (2015)
• And Horrible Bosses (2011)

Disco spent two decades with New Line Cinema before leaving to form his own production company. His films have been responsible for generating $4.5 billion globally. Upon the formation of his own production company, Warner Bros. Pictures Group Chairman Toby Emmerich said of Disco: 

Michael Disco started working with us at New Line 19 years ago.   He’s one of those people you hope will be on your team throughout their career.  He has always been passionate about and incredibly talented in development and production, so it makes sense that he’s chosen to segue into producing.  I am happy that he will be making his films at our studio where he is and has been a beloved and trusted colleague.

DC Films

DC Films is the main driving force behind all DC Comics-based films for Warner Bros. Pictures. The Flash is just one of many different superhero properties based on DC Comics that DC Films currently has in development. Next month, DC Films will be releasing the highly anticipated movie The Batman (2022) The Batman, directed by George Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman.

DC Films also has a number of different films in their upcoming slate including Black Adam (2022), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2022), and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023).

Besides movies, DC Films also produced television series based on DC Comics properties including the current HBO Max hit Peacemaker. DC Films is run by President of DC-based Film Production Walter Hamda and Vice President of Production Chantal Nong.

Final Thoughts on The Flash Production Companies

Fans of DC Comics movies and previous films like Zack Snyder’s Justice League are highly anticipating the upcoming movie The Flash produced by Double Dream Films, The Disco Factory, and DC Films. But will The Flash be a hit?

That remains to be seen. But it remains high on people’s “must-see” list as it features the return of Michael Keaton to the role of Bruce Wayne / Batman since he starred in Batman Returns way back in 1992. “Battfleck” Ben Affleck will also make an appearance in the film – reportedly his last (at least for the time being).
